The Role Of Theatre Seating In Attracting Audiences

By Tammie Caldwell

So many people live for performances. Either to view them or show the world their talent. This is a place where an individual can be themselves no questions asked. This self-expression can be seen through scripted plays or operas. Theatre seating should be well planned so that everybody has a good experience. A lot needs to be put into consideration and the size of the place basically dictates this.

The few areas you may have seen, normally have a particular arrangement of seats. Each row of seats is usually higher than the one in front. The purpose of this is for everyone to see clearly. No one can be hindered from viewing by another. The area in which the audience is should always be different from where you find the performers.

There is normally a viewing area on the same level as the stage. There are also other areas such as balconies. There could be a couple of balconies but only one will be at the highest point. Many people would kill for this position because it is just perfect. It is so because it is higher than most seats. At this point you are able to view everything that is going on at every angle.

Some places go out of their way to ensure that their audience is comfortable. They want them to keep coming back after every show. This is definitely good for business. For comfortability, they leave reasonable space between seats. This could be 2-3 inches. The last thing you need while watching an amazing performance is feeling squeezed.

The seats themselves need to get on another level. You do not need to leave the venue while having back aches. Some of them will be padded giving them that extra cushiony feel. Sitting in such a place will definitely be an amazing feel. For those who love snacking in the middle of plays, cup holders can come in handy for keeping refreshments.

People who are disabled may have trouble when looking for a place to sit, depending on their handicap. This needs to be prevented by thinking of this issue before hand. Those who use wheelchairs need a place where they can position them for proper viewing. People who have slight hearing problems need assistance since acoustics is also related to the position of the seats.

While trying to figure out the right arrangement, simply ask around. Question the people who will be seating there to view that is the would-be audience. They should not have to elbow through other people so as to find their seats. The arrangement should also not hinder people from interacting. While placing the seats there should not be wastage off space.

When planning to hold an event in a theatre, you definitely need to know the seating capacity. This turns definitely an amazing place for people to interact with artists by watching them perform. Many places have worked to ensure their theatres are on point so as to attract audiences. Go ahead and enjoy your opera or whatever else you plan to view.
