Jewelry Storage Ideas For Those With Little Space

By Scott Hill

Some people grow up believing that no outfit is complete if does not have at least one accessory. Others feel that a set that uses the neckline, one wrist and headgear in coordinating colors or patterns are worth looking for. Over time, a person can have an ample selection of wardrobe accessories that may be difficult to keep up with. This is why it helps to try out some jewelry storage ideas that can help sort all accessories and accent pieces.

Though people may scoff at first but getting organized will help in many areas. It helps to keep track of small parts. If a person cannot find something at a particular moment, they may go out to replace it. Over time, buying duplicates can be costly. By knowing where something is at all times, it will prevent someone from spending money.

Depending on the space and personality, there are different ways to organize a space. For instance, old shoe boxes can be used as storage and labeled with what type of jewelry is inside. One box could be used for earrings or necklaces and if there are a lot of delicate pieces, small plastic bags can be used to provide a cushion of sorts. Clear jewelry bags can be found at craft supply stores or small sealable sandwich bags may be used.

Because there is no one way to organize, other sorting ideas may include colors, metal or styles. One may want to keep casual jewelry separate from their fine pieces. One good idea is to keep items in need of repair in a separate bag so they may be replaced or fixed by a professional.

Bags can also be used to match jewelry sets with outfits. When some people are getting ready to start their day, it helps to know that everything they need is accessible as opposed to having to dig around for it in a rush. For people who like to try out different looks, this organizing method may not be as much fun.

For the person with a small selection or pieces that are small in size, jewelry boxes are ideal. Many are decorative and the compartment space makes it easy to find earrings and others that are easy to lose. Some jewelry boxes come with a locking feature and there are even models ideal for traveling.

Some accessory stores carry hangers made for earrings and other small items. This is another good solution for the person who gets dressed on the fly and needs immediate access. These are versatile because they can hang on a closet rod or on a door hook.

Often people do not think of disposable wig heads as a storage solution but for those with little money to spend, it can work. Using pins or tacks, items may be use to stick to, or hand onto, head. These are lightweight and can either sit on a shelf or be mounted to a wall using double stick tape or a Velcro strip. It may be an usual methods but for some, it is an effective method of storage.
