The Many Benefits Of Pure Raw Honey

By Joyce Collins

It has been described as the food of kings and the gods. Animals and humans alike will risk their hides to get hold of a comb. Yes, the sweet, delectable syrup from bee combs remain one of the most coveted foods on earth. It cannot go bad and samples thousands of thousands of years old have been tested and found good to eat. Pure raw honey is one of the marvels of nature, a true super food.

There seems to be no end to the list of benefits offered by this food. It is nutritious, it is used in beauty products, it has numerous health benefits and it is even used in some forms of psychological therapy. Most people eat it simply because it is delicious and they do not even realize that they are enjoying many benefits in the process.

Experts warn, however, that some suppliers add preservatives, totally without reason, and flavouring agents to their products. These should be avoided because this syrup does not need any help or augmentation. At the very worst it will crystallize, but the application of gentle heat will restore it to its previously pristine condition. When buying it it is important to read the label and to make sure that it is pure.

There seems to be no end to the health benefits offered by honey. It is not possible to overdose on this product. It is an excellent natural antibiotic without the nasty side effects of chemical versions. It has strong anti inflammatory and anti fungal abilities and it can even be used to cure sore throats. In addition, the fact that it is so rich in antioxidants means that it helps to fight potentially harmful free radical in the body.

Sugar is well known as one of the big culprits in efforts to achieve effective weight control. This syrup, though sweet, does not cause fat. In fact, it helps to lower the blood sugar level, increase metabolism and it even helps to suppress the appetite. It provides energy for much longer periods than sugar does. It is not only a very efficient anti allergen but it also helps the immune system to function at optimum levels.

However, most people do not use honey for the benefits that it offers. It is extremely versatile and can be used in cooking, it can replace sugar in recipes, it can be mixed with a variety of substances such as chillies to produce extraordinary sauces and it can even be used as an environmentally friendly way in which to entice bothersome insects such as ants away from the home.

Unfortunately, bee populations all over the world are rapidly declining. Environmentalists and scientists say this can be ascribed to urbanization, human ignorance and climate change. It has even been said that the very future of the planet depends upon the survival of the bee. Bees are, without a doubt, an extremely important component of any healthy eco system. They play numerous vital roles and the production of honey is just one of them.

Honey is one of the true marvels of nature. It has numerous uses and it is the perfect example of a true super food. Nobody will argue the fact that it should be part of the diet of every household in the world.
