Creating A St Patricks Day Wreath Kansas

By Jeffrey Powell

Celebrated around the globe by Irish and non-Irish alike, the 17th of March recognizes the patron Saint of Ireland. March 17th was the day the Saint died and traditionally people hold parades, parties and raise a glass of Irish stout to the man credited with driving the snakes from Ireland. The holiday has become associated with luck and wreaths decorated with lucky symbols are hung. If you wish to buy or make your own St Patricks day wreath Kansas has lots of outlets and florists selling anything you might need.

Green is the color of choice on March 17th. Also known as Paddy's Day, it is fun to dress in green clothes, drink stout or a green cocktail and join in the massive party. Hanging a Paddy's Day wreath on your door is a great way to let everyone know you are joining in the festivities. They are also lovely in their own right.

The plant most associated with the Irish is the Shamrock or clover. The four leafed shape is considered lucky and finding a four leafed clover exceptionally lucky. It is unlikely that real shamrocks will be readily available but there are many substitutes.

Florists are one of the best places to purchase a ready-made wreath that you can simply hang at home. Lovely green foliage and a variety of spring blooms will brighten any home. If you prefer to design your own arrangement then you can buy the materials instead. You will need a frame and enough flowers and foliage to cover it. This makes an original design with all the flowers you love most.

If you have never made one before you might want to search online for tips and tutorials to get you started. Searching for images will give you inspiration for designs if you are not naturally creative or just need a little extra something to top off your own design. Items such as horseshoes often feature to bring good luck while ribbons and bows add yet another dimension.

When you choose the materials for your project there are a few things to consider. If you would like to use it again next year then pick fabric or plastics. For single use, fresh flowers and plants will be fine but consider the weather conditions they have to endure. If the decoration is going into a windy area the materials will need to be easily secured.

You might not have a helpful local florist that can supply you with the things you need. Internet retailers will have everything you can imagine and more. Take care to look at the shipping dates so that your purchase arrives in plenty of time. Use a measure to check what size frame you require and make sure you order the correct one.

Home-made or store bought, your wreath is bound to look fantastic. It will get you into the spirit of Paddy's Day. You might not get all the luck of the Irish, even if you find a shamrock, but you can have a great day.
