How Mixed Flours Can Contribute To Health

By Robert Adams

In the past, as it is now in the present, the prime need of man is food. Without it, there is no way a human being can survive. It absolutely is the main source of energy required by the body for it to function. It comes in many varieties, either derived from plants or from other living creatures. One such product is generally made from cereals, that is flour. Nutritionists are strongly recommending the use of gluten free flour blend.

Ever since the world began, the man was always in search of food, a basic necessity which allowed him to survive. Primitive tribal groups were mostly hunters and gatherers. They hunted down game for meat and gathered fruits and berries which nature generously provided. The bulk of tribal activity was concentrated on having something to eat.

Agriculture in its early stage began in river banks as these were the places of early human settlements. As settlers learned how to propagate seeds and cultivate plants, they recognized that waterway deltas were very fertile and very suitable for plants. The accessibility of water was also an added advantage as was the annual inundation. This provided natural irrigation.

Almost in step with the development of early agriculture was the domestication of wild animals. Some of the tamed creatures were used as beasts of burden while others were tended to provide milk and meat. This was the beginnings of the livestock industry. Along with agriculture, this provided the increasing population with a viable food source.

The different cultures in the world also differ in beliefs, habits, and tradition. They also differ in food preference. This depends on the resources that are available in these areas. Some plant varieties only thrive on certain weather conditions. Staples are the main diet of populations. Different regions on the planet are prone to one type of staple.

Different regions of the planet have different climatic conditions. As a consequence, flora and fauna also differ, including those that are the main sources of food. Asian peoples choose rice as the main staple because it is abundant in that region. Africans are used to tapioca, tubers, and fruits. America and Europe who are cousins rely heavily on bread.

But regardless of where one is from, flour is present in all countries simply because it really is the main ingredient for baking bread. It definitely is a very fine powdery substance derived mostly from cereal grains like wheat, barley, rice, and corn. Other root crops like tapioca and sweet potato can also be milled as flour. Along with other ingredients and additives, it definitely is perfect for bread, pasta, and pastries.

Flour contains gluten which is a protein substance which binds a dough together and makes it elastic. It also helps to maintain shape which makes it vital in baking procedures. Generally, it is nutritional. However, there are people whose internal system just will not break it down which results in some health issues. This intolerance can be addressed with flours blends that do not contain gluten.

There are plenty of commercially produced flours blended that are gluten free that are available in the market. As the term implies it is not a form of flour by itself but a blend of different flours. It just is a mixture of flours that come from different sources other than wheat. There is no perfect combination and you can actually blend one for yourself.
